Kitchen Organization

     MagnaRack Kitchen Organization

If you are planning a new kitchen, remodeling and old kitchen, or just moving in a different place it is important to consider several factors in your Kitchen Organization plan. It is important to locate things close to where they will be used. An extra step to reach something, when added up over the days and years you will live in this kitchen area, can make your life more difficult. You have the ability to make life easier; with a little planning and kitchen organization, meal preparation and clean-up can be simple and not so much a chore as with a poorly organized Kitchen.

In every kitchen, the sink, stove, and refrigerator form a working area known as a triangle. This work triangle can be shaped differently depending on the locations of the sink, stove, and refrigerator. This idea assumes that the busy cook will be accessing these three areas frequently, and so, needs to keep them within a step or two away. Good Kitchen Organization also assumes there would be available working surface countertops next to the sink, the stove, and the refrigerator. You need a place to set down the grocery bags, chop and rinse food, and remove cooked items from the heat. Ideally the triangle should be nearly equilateral; often times, a kitchen island is placed near the center of this triangle to serve as joint work area for each appliance.

For practical purposes, some kitchen organization is necessary as far as the location of utilities is concerned. Obviously, the sink should be near the plumbing drain and water supply lines. The dishwasher should be next to the sink for ease of loading and plumbing connections. An oven or stove needs to be near a source of 220v electricity or the gas supply line. And, the refrigerator needs to be near an electric outlet and possibly a water supply line for the icemaker. It helps if the oven range is on an exterior wall for ducting the exhaust fan vent. It is also customary to put the sink below a window; this is so you can look out while rinsing food or dishes.

After your appliances are located in their best places, locating your kitchen accessories is next.

Good kitchen organization requires that your dishes are kept near the dishwasher, pots and pans are kept near the oven, silverware is kept near the dining area, spices and utensils are kept near the cooking area, and cleaning supplies are kept near the sink. You get the idea, if you are constantly walking across the kitchen to get the salt & pepper out of a cabinet, it might be time to move the salt & pepper closer to the food preparation area. The things you use the least, for special occasions, can be kept in the hard to reach areas while the most used items are kept near where they are used the most frequently.

Kitchen cabinet organizers and kitchen drawer organizers are great space savers. One cool gadget that provides kitchen storage and space savings is the MagnaRack®  magnetic storage shelf. To save drawer space and keep items within easy reach, the MagnaRack® magnetic storage basket is also a very unique kitchen organization idea. Some things you use the most often in cooking up a great meal are the spices and herbs, and the utensils and tools such as spatulas, spoons, and can openers. All these commonly used items can be kept right at hand using magnetic storage products that are applied to the refrigerator, the focal point of most kitchens. Keeping things easy to reach while cooking can make your kitchen organized and simple which makes it a pleasure to prepare food for your family and friends.
