Reclaimed Asian Teak

Now available !

A limited suppy of reclaimed asian teak

These are window and door frames from an out-of-business former tourist attraction called Splendid China. You can find more information about Splendid China on the internet and videos on Utube:

Good old growth Asian teak - reclaimed.

These pieces are mostly

2.75 x 3.375 inches

 (2 & 3/4 x 3 & 3/8")

The lengths are mostly 5 feet, Some are up to 11 feet.

We have not made an inventory list.

The pieces clean up at :

2 x 3 inches

1.25 x 3 inches

and some

2.75 x 3 inches

3 x 3.75 inches

Several hundred feet of reclaimed window

and door frames

After ripping & planing the wood

cleans up with a few knots and

nail holes, but that's what makes

it cool.

Here are the first 20 pieces cleaned up;

see the list below.

The colors in this picture are resulting from reflected light; all the wood is the same color.

Mortices like these are not included in the length measurements.

These teak pieces were mostly window and door frames. The teak is good old growth Asian teak. It has a few knots, a few nail holes, and some little sapwood in places. Yes folks, even good Asian teak has some knots. This would be about FAS grade (first and second cuts). If you fill in the nail holes and cut between the knots you would have FEQ grade (First European Quality).

Because we got a good buy on this teak, and it is reclaimed, the cost will be the same as the other teak we offer on the website. ($16.95 per board foot). The initial planing to get it cleaned up will be included in the price. Additional cutting and planing will be added labor costs.

Notches in some pieces were for the window hardware. These are about 1/2" deep and 2x3 inches. You can either place this so it is not seen, or plane or saw them off, or chop shorter pieces off each side of them.

Grooves in some pieces can be placed unseen or planed 1/4 less to remove them or cut pieces off each side of them. There is more than one way to slice up a board.

To fill a nail hole, mix some 5 minute epoxy glue with teak sawdust and putty it in the hole. Let it set up and sand off the excess. Be happy that you are re-using old teak instead of cutting down old trees. This wood is from trees that were perhaps hundreds of years old, and it has been cut into lumber for about 25 years. If you are lucky you may be able to put your screws or nails into the old holes and plug them just as if you planned it that way!

The supply of this teak is limited to certain sizes and numbers of pieces. All inventory is for sale. When it's gone, it's gone. There will be no more of this great deal.

Some pieces for example: Read more info below.

These pieces have been cleaned up and numbered. These pieces do not have the notches and grooves.

When a piece is sold it will be gone and removed from the list.

Each piece is different in defect character, but many are similar in size.

Order by the number, or send a list of what cuts you need.
